Serving Our Rural Neighbors Since 1982
Founded in 1982, the Ander-Weser Volunteer Fire Department was established with a clear mission: to provide vital fire protection for the rural communities of Ander and Weser in Goliad County, Texas. From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a cornerstone of safety, serving not just our core districts but a good portion of Goliad County—and standing ready to respond to emergency calls across the entire county. Whether it’s a structure fire, vehicle accident, medical emergency, or natural disaster, our dedicated team is fully equipped to handle all types of emergency events, ensuring peace of mind for the families who call this beautiful Texas heartland home.
Our Operations Division: The Heart of the Response
At the core of our department is our Operations Division, proudly staffed by 12 active members who volunteer their time, skills, and courage every day. We’re more than a team—we’re neighbors, friends, and first responders who drop everything to answer the call. And we’re always looking for more volunteers! If you’re passionate about community service, physically fit, and ready to make a real difference, we welcome you to join us. Training and support are provided—no prior experience necessary.
Commitment to Excellence: Standards, Safety, and Training
We don’t just meet expectations—we strive to exceed them. Our department is intentional about adhering as closely as possible to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards, ensuring our operations are professional, effective, and safe. The health and safety of our responders is our top priority, which is why all members are required to complete an annual NFPA health questionnaire. This simple but powerful tool allows our Medical Officer to monitor and maintain the well-being of every firefighter, keeping our team strong and ready for action.
Exciting news for our training program: We just gained the ability to offer Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications in-house, along with many other SFFMA (State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association) courses. This means faster, more accessible training right here in Goliad County—no long drives or outside scheduling hassles. We’re building a pipeline of highly skilled responders who can deliver top-notch service without delay.
Our Promise to the Residents of Our District
Every decision we make is driven by our commitment to providing the highest level of service possible to the residents of Ander, Weser, and greater Goliad County. We’re not just fighting fires—we’re protecting livelihoods, safeguarding homes, and preserving the tight-knit spirit of rural Texas. From routine drills to high-stakes rescues, our focus never wavers: Your safety is our mission.
